Loretta, Kendall, Tod And Sarah |

Loretta has wanted to do a family portrait session at the beach for over a year. But getting her family in the same place, at the same time, when I am free proved to be a difficult proposition. Sunday was the day . . . and it was a gorgeous day at that. This was my first beach session of the year and I was excited to feel the sand between my toes. I wasn’t excited, however, to see the flags flapping as we crossed the draw bridge onto Onslow Beach. Even though it wasn’t windy in town, the wind was really whipping on the beach. And to make matters worse, the tide was so high that I couldn’t shoot at the pier - my favorite place. But we weren’t going to let a little thing like an especially high tide stop us! We just moved to a better location and started shooting. It was an absolutely beautiful day . . . clear blue skies and gorgeous blue water. Add that to a great family and that’s the recipe for a fun session.
First we took a few pictures of the entire family.
Then, as I always do in family sessions, I broke the family down into smaller groups. I took a few shots of Tod and Sarah alone - then a few together. Tod was not as excited as I was to be at the beach having his portrait made. But, he was very cooperative and I even got a natural smile or two out of him. Sarah was easy - as always. You may remember Sarah from her senior portraits a bit over a year ago.
To end the session I took a few pictures of Loretta and Kendall together. We were all a bit windblown by this time and it was getting a little chilly. I do love this pictures of them though - messy hair and all.
