You’re a single woman! No, wait. What is that? You have a fear of being single? Many women would rather stay in an unhealthy relationship than to be alone. Let me tell you, there are plenty of benefits of being single.

Dig inside of you to figure out where that fear of being single comes from. What are you afraid of? Is it a fear of not finding anybody else? Maybe you feel you have invested a lot into the relationship and you want to hold on to it. Perhaps you’re uncertain of the future and uncomfortable when things in your life shift.

Those are common fears and they arise in many situations other than relationships. We’re afraid of taking risks when it comes to business or other creative ventures. We fear failure.

Life is about getting and letting go. It’s about change. You’ve already gone through plenty of change to get this far in your life. As a young girl you went from one school to another. You may have even moved from one city to another. Permanence doesn’t exist. You’ll adapt to your new situation. You’ll adapt to being single.

You may have developed a certain routine that involves your current partner and are afraid of what to do with your time when he’s away. Trust me, there’s always something to do! Catch up with your friends, read a book, pick up a hobby, do something creative. When something leaves your life, something will come in to replace it. Think of a bowl of water with a thick candle placed in the center. What happens when you remove the candle? Water replaces it. It’s a natural occurrence in life.

If you fear you won’t meet anybody else, work on building self confidence. Focus on your positive attributes and use them for your advantage. If you’ve got a good sense of humor, use it! Smile and show off those pearly whites!

I have a friend who always says, If you were okay before that person, you’ll be okay after. It’s true! The initial break up will probably hurt as you make the energy shift from one space to the next. After that storm calms down, it’s nothing but sunshine!
