To backtrack, yesterday eHarmony settled their non-Gay dating access, by creating Compatible Partners. However the trick about the new site is the company has no idea if its clients will find good matches. In fact, Compatible Partners users will see a warning to this effect:

So to me, it still feels like they were forced to do this and a bit half-assed. If I needed to use any service, I would use Yahoo. But Compatible Partners, just don’t seem ready. And while I’m ranting about this, maybe we should get back to basics. Leave sites alone and find a man the old fashion way…in the bars. Seriously though, look in the library, events, or just around. I feel that sites takes the thrill of dating away. I think we are missing the basic means when it comes to man-hunting. We need to put the courting back in dating.

Have you ever wondered what the connection might be between the Coolest Woman on the Planet and mass chaos? The comparison didn’t occur to me, until this morning as I drove my son-in-law to work. He overslept, missed the bus, and needed a ride. Ahem, well, Mother-in-laws must be good for something!

The windshield was iced over, the roads were a disaster, and in the middle of the chaos, the lights on the dashboard began to look more like a Christmas tree twinkling at me. The ground cable on my battery was corroded and in desperate need of my immediate attention. More chaos…

Meanwhile, above me was the largest gaggle of geese I’ve ever seen flying in multiple V formations toward their warmer destination on the eastern plains. I’ve been in the city for almost two months and the concept of hearing geese fly over on their mission to arrive in a warmer climate hadn’t occurred to me until I was awakend one morning at the crack of dawn to the sound of honking birds.

But what could possibly be the connection to the Coolest Woman on the Planet? Well, I’ll tell you… While I watched those birds drift across the sky in a constantly moving V formation, melding their way through the clouds high above the traffic, I felt inspired, motivated and encouraged. How can I be less than my best when God’s creatures set such a fine example above me, with a promise so big and bold that it literally covered the skies over me?

Faith brings its own inspiration. If you simply set out to believe, God will show you the way with divine leadership, inspired by the Holy creation of nature at times, to attain your goals. Such was my response this morning, to the geese honking their encouragement and motivation down from gray skies through the hurling snow flakes on a morning when I’d had no intention of being on the highway - in a broken down van.

So, after stopping by a station to get the van repaired, or at least checked out, I came home to write down my experience. See “Faith Comes on Wings” and was reminded by my buddy Oris, that today’s my day to post on his blog… So, I referenced my post to Honking Geese. And while catching up on my email connections, I was reminded by Shannon to visit her blog and left a comment about Driving Traffic.

The connection between the Coolest Woman on the Planet and Chaos, of course, is INSPIRATION. Go now into the world to make a difference and be inspired to accomplish the task set before you with faith and motivation that your goal will be accomplished!

30 Days of Vampires Schedule

Vampires. The very name conjures up an array of images from the pop culture’s Bela Lugosi induced romantic Transylvanian hero of Dracula to crazy cannibalistic monsters in action and horror works. With the rise of paranormal romances featuring vampires as the new romantic heroes, vampires have cemented their way into our world as the true undead. With so many variations of the vampire myth interpretation, can we safely say that vampires are basically a genre of their own? After all, with so many different kinds of fans of the genre, I couldn’t help noticing that everyone is looking for a little something different in their bloodsuckers.

The horror group wants their vampires as monsters. Relentless killing machines that’ll soon rip out your throat, if they ever crossed your path or carefully calculate the path to a their prey’s demise. Think 30 Days of Night , both the graphic novel and the movie, I Am Legend and various other ‘man-against-monster’ survival horror works. Tons of B-movie sci-fi flicks also love to play with this genre using vampires not only as monsters but alien parasites in other worlds (I think I actually have one saved on my DVR now).

The paranormal romance fans love their blood suckers as the dangerous bad boys of the romance subgenre. Undead hotties that’ll seduce you into passionate abandon, if you were ever so fortunate as their heroines. Think along the lines of Moonlight, Blood Ties and even Buffy’s preternatural beaus. I thank Anne Rice for the rise of this genre who trailblazed the way in making vampires like a separate community outside of the human world where they battle with their own complex desires, loves, emotions and even a structure of politics.

Finally, there’s the in-between group. Fans who want their vampires, cool, kicking some major tail and shooting down anyone who dares get in their way to question them. These vampires are on a mission and are vulnerable to finding love but they are warriors first. Think along the lines of Blade, the Underworld movies and a good amount of Urban Fantasy works in books today.

The wonderful thing about vampires is they’re flexible enough to fit across all types of genres; whether they be true undead monsters, tortured romantic heroes on the way to redemption, the result of a life changing science experiment gone wrong or infected with a virus, it’s safe to say that the vampire mythos will be on the shelves for a very, very long time. Thank goodness for us vampire authors and readers because there is enough myth and back story across all cultures to explore the undead for many centuries to come.
